Measurement and Installation
You decided to get yourself a nice blind to further enhance your house or office spaces décor, but you are worried that you might not get the measurement right for installation. Or you’ve got a not so fancy window that you want to make invincible to guest and want to get the measurement perfect. Measuring Instructions
As with all blinds installation, you can go for an inside mount or an outside mount depending on the type of fit and window you’ve got.

Measuring Instructions for Inside Mount
Inside mount blinds are installed on the interior of the window casing. The window molding is usually left visible in this type of window mount. -
Measuring Instructions for Outside Mount
Outside mounted cellular shades are mounted on the wall outside the frame and covers the window molding.
The requirement for Inside Mount
- Window’s depth is crucial requirement for inside mount blind installation. Ensure your window structure pass this test before deciding to go for inside mount blinds. Go to the product’s information page and click on the “Description” tab to find out more about your product’s requirements.
- Be sure to measure accurately for a neat finish. As mistakes in measurements can ruin your shades.
Measuring the width
- To get the required measurement, you should measure the inside of the top window frame.
- Round it down to the nearest 1/8 inch.
- This is the width that you input when you place your order.
Measuring the height
- Pick three spots on the window frame – preferably the top left, the center and the topmost right – then measure from those spots down to the bottom of the window frame. Don’t forget to fix the tape ends firmly on the inside of the sill.
- The largest of those measurement is your required measurement. Round it off to the nearest 1/8 inch.
- Fill out this largest height when ordering for your blinds. This will be your height input for your order.
The requirements for outside mount
- You need a flat surface to make this work. Make sure you have a minimum of 3/4" of flat space. To find the product’s specific mounting requirements, read the information contained in the “Product Info” tab on whatever product you’re ordering.
- You must be ready to make room for the addition of overlaps.
Measuring the width
- Measure the width of the top of the window frame.
- Add a minimum of 2 inches to the width for both sides (left and right) with a total of 4 inches. This will ensure that your window coverings are properly covered.
- Use this new measurement as your final when you are ordering for your blinds.
Measuring the height
- As in above, you will work with three spot and measure from top to bottom. It is strongly recommended that you pick the top left, the middle and the top right of the window frame. All measurement must end at the bottom of the window sill.
- The largest of the above measurements is what you will need.
- Add minimum of 2 inches to the top and the bottom of the largest measurement you’ve chosen in step above.
- Your measurement for ordering should be the final height after adding a minimum of 4 inches to the largest height. Now you have a perfect height to place your order.
